Lucy in the North with Diamonds...

Temp: -21°C
Sunlight - 12.46 hours

Another week has flown by. The plans this weekend are social and not outdoor related. It’s supposed to be a pretty decent weekend, temperature-wise, but we may be expecting a little snow – not much mind you.

The big controversy in the NWT these days is the state of the iceroads. Not so much up here in the North, but more so down in the South – where the diamond mines are.

Truckers have been loaded and waiting for days waiting for official word on whether the road will be stable enough to use a few more times. There are big dollars in the diamond mines and there is huge pressure to get all the supplies and equipment in for the summer. To be honest, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen this year. Failing the roads, the diamond companies will have to result to the much more expensive mode of flying in supplies and equipment.

If you were in the market for diamonds, be prepared for higher prices this year.

Cheers!
