Trip to Tuk - Pictorial

Temp: -24°C
Sunlight - 9.41 hours

I have a lot of pictures from the trip last weekend, so the next couple of entries will be largely pictures and captions for them. Here we go…enjoy:

This is a picture of the sunrise over the tundra. It's 10AM here. The rise of the sun actually warmed things up a little, and provided some excellent scenery too.

This is a picture looking North East from John's cabin. As you can see the Tundra is pretty desolate. There is no protection from the elements.

Here's a shot of Julian starting to unload one of the sleds. John's cabin is in the background.

This is John having a snack while sitting at the kitchen table. Notice the cup of tea? John drinks a lot of it. I have never met someone who could drink so much tea in one sitting!

Here's the wood stove that turns the cabin on the Tundra into a raging inferno! Notice the teapot on the stove? It's never empty!

A decent shot of the Tundra. I will be sure to post this picture to contrast the explosion of vegetation in the summer.

This is a shot of Julian and John conferring on directions. I, of course, had no idea where I was at any time! It's amazing how these guys find their way around the Arctic. They are experts at it.

That's all the shots for now. Stay tuned for more tomorrow.

Cheers!
